After the 30 days:

The librarian will email the book list to the Superintendent’s Secretary, who will prepare it for the next school board meeting, along with any Library Materials Acquisition Forms received.

Once the book list has been approved by the school board, the Superintendent’s Secretary will email the approved list to the librarian.  The librarian will prepare and submit a requisition form for the approved books.

JISD Library Catalog

Jasper ISD uses Follett Destiny as their online catalog for library materials.  Guests can browse the campus catalogs using the link below.  Parents and guardians can create an account so that they can monitor their student’s check-out history or block certain books from their student’s options.

Library Materials Acquisition

Library materials recommended for purchase will be posted for 30 days in order to provide staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to purchase. Please fill out this form if you have comments on one of the books posted. Submit a separate form for each book.

TEA Challenge Form

Under Texas Education Code (TEC) §33.027, a parent, district employee, or person residing in a school district may submit a written challenge to any library material in a school’s library catalog. To submit a written challenge, an eligible individual must complete and submit the Library Materials Challenge Form. In accordance with TEC §33.027, an individual completing the form must identify how the challenged library material violates library standards adopted by the Texas State Library and Archive Commission (TSLAC).
