Good Things and Bulldog Brags

Space exploration and students participating in government are both really GOOD THINGS!

On Tuesday, December 9th, Student Congressional Advisory Council members Samantha Melendez and Keagan Taff visited NASA Houston for an Executive Tour of the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). Their tour included George W. S. Abbey Rocket Park, the Astronaut Training Facility, Historic Apollo Mission Control, and a special presentation from guest speaker retired Col. Mike Bloomfield, shuttle pilot & commander, who shared insights from his experiences as an astronaut and his visits to the Space Station.

The Executive Tour was led by Irwin Stewart, who brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for space exploration. With over ten years of experience teaching aerospace and aviation technicians and three years in administration, Irwin also holds a unique background as an FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot, Aerospace Technician, and NASA Test Subject for ARGOS and Ultrasound testing.

Students gained valuable knowledge about astronaut training, the technological advancements of the NASA space program, and the exciting future of space exploration.

Superintendent John Seybold and the Jasper ISD Board of Trustees are proud to recognize the following:

  • From the JHS Top Dawg Admin Team: Congratulations to Jasper Boys Basketball on winning the Silver Bracket Championship at the WOS Fruit City Classic this weekend! Major Armstrong and Brayden Mitchell were selected to the All-Tournament Team, and key contributors Demetrick West, Braylan Mosley, and Breylon Collier all averaged 10 points per game throughout the tournament. The Bulldogs now sit at 6-4 on the season and are building momentum.
  • From Latrica Sutton: Tommy Cauley, Allen Hadnot, Mendy Robinson, and Jarrod Cauley — doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done.
  • From Latrica Sutton: Public Safety Day was amazing — as always! Big thank you to Jamie Gunter and Nicole Colvin for doing a great job of advertising and bringing in so many people to show opportunities to our students that they would not see any other way!
  • The Jasper Junior High Band did an outstanding job at the Christmas Concert.
  • Jasper Junior High Counselors Joscelyn Adams and Rodney Herrington did a great job putting together the information and presenting at the Mental Health Lunch-n-Learn.
  • Middle-of-Year NWEA Testing went very well at Parnell Elementary.
